APM Terminals partners with Hateco Group

APM Terminals has just signed a strategic partnership agreement with Vietnam's HATECO Group in the project to develop two deep-water terminals at Lach Huyen Port Area, Hai Phong City in Northern Vietnam.

As a strategic partner, APM Terminals will provide financial, commercial and technical support to HATECO Group Joint Stock Company (HATECO). The project aims to exploit the natural conditions and favorable geographical location of Lach Huyen area, Hai Phong City, creating favorable conditions for direct import and export of goods between Northern Vietnam and European and American markets. The project is also expected to directly create attractive opportunities for key customers and shippers and promote trade in the Northern region of Vietnam.

The investment project to build Wharf No. 5 and No. 6 of Lach Huyen Port, Hai Phong includes the investment and construction of 2 wharves with a total length of 900m (each wharf is 450m) capable of receiving container ships with a capacity of up to 18,000 TEU.

The investor HATECO expects to complete the infrastructure construction and equipment deployment by the end of 2024. The new port is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2025. In the first phase, the port will have 5 STS gantry cranes and 14 RTG rubber-tired gantry cranes.
